Dear Ladies & Gentlemen!
ComNews Information Group invites you and your colleagues to a major industry event – the 6th Federal IT Forum of Russia’s oil and gas Industry “Smart Oil & Gas: Digital Technologies To Help Address The Crisis”. The event will be held offline with the ability to participate in an online broadcast.
Date: September 17-18, 2020
Venue: online (digital).
In the past five years, IT Forum of Russia’s Oil & Gas Industry has proven itself to be a unique platform for discussion and best practice exchange on the key topical issues of IT and industrial automation in the domestic oil & gas industry, including innovative technologies and approaches to implementation of IT projects involving businesses, developers and the government under new political and economic conditions.
In 2020, organizers of the forum Smart Oil & Gas decided to hold the forum online out of health and safety concerns for all the participants. The COVID-19 infection rates are still on the rise, and many international borders are closed (which makes it complicated for people from abroad to participate in the event), and besides, many oil & gas corporations of Russia have implemented a ban on offline events until the end of the year 2020.
Oil & gas sector was one of the first to embark on the path of digital transformation, so they are rather familiar with the online format. At the same time, this way we can secure a wide number of international speakers.
The pivotal topic of both days of Smart Oil & Gas 2020 will be digital transformation and IT applications in oil and gas companies under the new conditions. At the start of the COVID-19 pandemic in the first months of 2020, companies were forced to move the majority of their staffers to remote work, but in case of oil & gas industry, it is more complicated due to the need to ensure continuity of the core processes. The global pandemic has pushed the demand for hydrocarbons down, collapsing market prices. In Russia, the situation is aggravated by the devaluation of the national currency. The coronavirus crisis and manufacturing cutbacks will last for quite some time, so companies need to adapt to the new reality. Digital technologies were already playing an important role for oil & gas sector, but today they have become critical, as they enable remote work for a great number of staff, allow reducing upstream and downstream staff on-site (and even make it possible to set up unmanned facilities), and eventually, they keep people healthy, reduce production costs and enhance the company’s ability to respond to market challenges. But amid revenue shortfalls and cuts in corporate budgets, oil & gas companies are faced with a difficult task of choosing the most effective digital technologies, which makes the exchange of best digital practices among market players more important than ever. Smart Oil & Gas will be a strong platform to exchange best practices and experiences.
