New information platform for telecom community has appeared in Central Asia.

 

On October 19, 2023 the ComNews Information Group held for the first time in Almaty (Republic of Kazakhstan) the international conference “Telecom Eurasia: innovation, interaction and convergence of cellular, optical and satellite communication networks in the interests of the digital economy”.

More than 250 specialists took part in the event in offline and online formats.

The topics of the “Telecom Eurasia” conference were focused on practical experience, strategies and solutions of wireless technologies, deployment of mobile broadband networks, satellite communications, innovative technologies based on new generation networks, construction of backbone optical communication networks and infrastructure for laying fiber optic networks.

The Official Partner of the conference was Netside company, the Partners of the session were Gilat Satellite Networks Ltd. and “Laboratory of Infocommunication Networks” company (“LIS”), the Partner was Turkish Aerospace Industries Inc., and Comfortel company had the status With Participation.

The exhibition of technologies and solutions for the satellite, optical and wireless communications development took place within the framework of the conference. The companies Netside, Turkish Aerospace, “Laboratory of Infocommunication Networks” (“LIS”), Mobile Group, ComSystems participated in the exhibition as exhibitors.

The conference was held with the support of the National Telecommunication Association of Kazakhstan (NTA), the Global Mobile Suppliers Association (GSA), Autonomous Non-Commercial Organization “Consortium Telecommunications Technologies” (ANO TT), Non-Profit Partnership RUSSOFT, Big Data Association (BDA), Data Center Industry Association (DCIA) and Electronics Developers and Manufacturers Association (EDMA).

The conference was opened with the plenary session “The future of the wireless networks: heading for Central Asia”. The session’s moderator was Leonid Konik, Director General – Editor-in-Chief, ComNews Information Group.

Nurudin Mukhitdinov, Director General of the Executive Committee, Regional Commonwealth in the Field of Communications (RSS), addressed the participants of the conference with his welcoming speech. Sergey Pastukh, Vice-Chairman of the Working Group on Preparation for the AP/WRC, Regional Commonwealth in the Field of Communications, Vice-Chairman of the Preparatory Meeting for WRC-23, International Telecommunications Union (ITU), made a report “Agreed points and discussion issues of the RSS position in preparation for the World Radiocommunication Conference 2023 (WRC-23)”. Asylbek Khairushev, President, National Telecommunication Association (NTA) of the Republic of Kazakhstan, presented the report “The state and prospects of development of the communications industry in the Republic of Kazakhstan”. Viktor Strelets, Study Group 4 Chairman, ITU-R, spoke on the topic “Sustainable access to global resources of satellite orbits and radio frequency spectrum within the framework of future decisions of ITU and other international organizations”. Vasily Leonov, Deputy Chairman of the Management Board, Republican Center for Space Communications (KazSat), presented a report “The role and advantages of satellite groupings on GSO in Mobile Backhaul”. Also within the framework of the plenary session, Latif Ladid, Chairman, 5G World Alliance, President, IPv6 Forum, took part with a report “New IPv6-based Internet expanding the capabilities of 5G/6G, P2P IoT, Web3, cloud computing, artificial intelligence and blockchain”, and Joe Barrett, President, Global Mobile Suppliers Association (GSA), participated with a report “5G – Global Update”.

After the block of reports, a discussion took place. The experts in the Presidium were joined by Askar Kishkembayev, Director of the Government Relations Department, Kcell. The experts discussed what forms of cooperation are possible between satellite companies and 5G cellular networks operators, what barriers can appear in the process of full-scale 5G networks deployment, and what is the future of VSAT operators and terrestrial satellite service providers in the process of technological revolution.

The moderators of the session 2 “Development of telecom infrastructure: innovative technologies and new opportunities” were Sergey Pastukh, Vice-Chairman of the Working Group on Preparation for the AP/WRC, Regional Commonwealth in the Field of Communications, and Leonid Konik, Director General – Editor-in-Chief, ComNews Information Group. The Partners of the session were the companies Gilat Satellite Networks Ltd. and “Laboratory of Infocommunication Networks”.

The reports were presented by: Nurlan Izmailov, Director General for Central Asia, Gilat Satellite Networks Ltd., with the topic “Modern Gilat solutions for satellite communication systems”, Stanislav Shelepin, Director General, Netside company, with the topic “Effective solutions for medium-range optical transport”, Vladimir Aksenov, Chief Designer, LIS company, with the topic “Development of the Russian equipment ecosystem for building Private 4G, Private 5G networks”. Vladimir Aksenov, who summarized the long-term experience of his company in terms of innovative developments of cellular networks, said: “Private LTE & 5G networks will become a powerful basis for successful implementation of the digital economy. At the same time, the base stations, network cores, management and monitoring programs themselves are not enough to create networks, but an entire ecosystem consisting of dozens of interconnected types of hardware and software is needed. And you do not need to wait for such an ecosystem for several years – it has already been created”.

The following reports were presented by Sergey Afanasyev, Director of Innovation, OpenKZ, with the topic “OpenRAN”, Vladislav Morozov, Director of Business Development, Simsol Software, with the topic “Development of unlicensed range for small private 5G networks”, Alexander Antonyuk, Director of the IoT Department, ASTEL, with the topic “Prospects for the development of the satellite Internet of Things (IoT)”.

After the block of reports, an express discussion took place, in which Anton Rukavishnikov, Chief Technical Director, TNS-Plus, joined the experts. They discussed what needs to be changed in the backbone infrastructure for the deployment of fifth-generation wireless networks, also the prospects for the 6G networks development, the technological sovereignty, import substitution and the effectiveness of the introduction of OpenRAN and new innovative technologies.

 

The business program of the conference was completed by a large-scale session 3 “Communication for corporations. Private LTE& 5G networks”. The session was moderated by Vyacheslav Khvan, Head of the Key Customer Development Service, KaR-Tel (TMBeeline).

The reports in the session were presented by: Alexander Zaika, Head of Convergent Business Solutions Service, KaR-Tel (TM Beeline), with the topic “Private LTE as the basis of digital transformation of production. Examples of implemented projects Beeline Kazakhstan”, Evgeny Maly, Project Development Manager for Large Business, Altel, with the topic “Private LTE and 5G mobile networks as an integral part of Industry 4.0”, and Tadej Dragaš, Regional Sales Director, Druid Software Ltd, with the topic “Global trends and experience in building private mobile networks”.

The following experts took part in the discussion: Evgeny Maly, Project Development Manager for Large Business, Altel, Alexander Zaika, Head of Convergent Business Solutions Service, KaR-Tel (TM Beeline), Dmitry Zamkovoy, Director General, Mobile Group, Marat Smagulov, Director of the Department, KAP Technology (IT integrator of Kazatomprom), Talgat Ablay, Director of the Information Technology Department, Kazakhmys Corporation, Alexander Antonyuk, Director of the IoT Department, ASTEL, Tadej Dragaš, Regional Sales Director, Druid Software Ltd.
