The value of the digital transformation for electric power companies was discussed on June 18, 2021 in the Hilton Garden Inn Moscow Krasnoselskaya Hotel, during the V Federal IT Forum of the Russian electric power industry “Smart Electro: Digital Transformation of the Electric Power Sector”.

The Smart Electro Forum was held with the support of the Digital Energy Association, the Association of Guaranteeing Suppliers and Power Supply Companies, the Association of Data Center Industry Participants and the Non-Commercial Partnership ‘RUSSOFT’.

The forum was also supported by ER-Telecom Holding that sponsored the presentation session, Poly Company that sponsored the participants’ registration, and AVEVA Company.

The first session of the forum was represented by the plenary discussion “The main drivers and prevailing trends of digitalization”. During the session, the participants discussed the building-up of new business models in the energy sector and drivers of industry development; much attention was paid to the topic of Smart Grids in Russia and the Demand Response issues. Also during the session the experts shared their experience of the enterprises’ digitalization and discussed how to assess the enterprise’ digital maturity. The discussion participants also shared their opinion on what telecom solutions are most relevant at the moment and in the near future. The plenary discussion was attended by such experts as Lyubov Andreeva, Director of the Department of Digital Energy and Commercial Dispatching of Nuclear Power Plants of Rosenergoatom Concern; Mikhail Andronov, President of Rusenergosbyt; Dmitry Korev, Head of the Department of the Center for Innovation and Advanced Development of Rosseti.Digital, and Alexander Bocharov, Head of Sales Development in the Electric Power Industry of ER-Telecom Holding.

After a short break the forum continued with a presentation session “Digital Transformation Technologies. Industry 4.0”. The session was moderated by Alexey Konev, Director for Innovative Development of the Fuel and Energy Sectors of the Federal State Budgetary Institution “Russian Energy Agency” of the Ministry of Energy of Russia. Lyubov Andreeva, Director of the Department of Digital Energy and Commercial Dispatching of Nuclear Power Plants of Rosenergoatom Concern, presented her report “Digital Energy: Experience, Mistakes, Successes”. Then Alexander Bocharov, Head of Sales Development in the electric power industry of ER-Telecom Holding, spoke about how telecommunications can become a tool for revenue growth of an energy company. Evgeny Meshkov, AVEVA’s leading technical expert, reported about the asset performance management and prescriptive analytics. Alexander Romanov, Director of Business Development in Russia at Ericsson, presented the report “5G Technology Networks as an incentive for growth in the energy sector”. Oleg Pokrovsky, Director of Multi-D Products, ASE Engineering Division, Rosatom State Corporation, spoke about the important role of the platform in digital transformation. At the end of the session Alexander Bazhanov, Network Project Manager of Jet Infosystems, told about their experience in upgrading the Network Management Center of the Vologda Regional Energy Company.
